Writing Starter 67

I personally did not like the writing starters. I felt like they were busy work, which I hate. I would rather have more assignments and drop the writing starters. I don't like someone telling me what to write about when it's supposed to be "creative." By the end of the semester it just felt like I needed to put words down, and I didn't even put effort into making the writing starters something I'd be proud of. I'd never go back and read them, like I might with a short story or poem or whatever. I liked the dialogue writing starters best because they took the least time and I could make my characters say things like "ok" "cool" to take up lines. I definitely would've preferred the writing starters be optional, or extra credit, or at least scale it down to once a week or so.

I don't like cooking so I'd just roast a human since that seems pretty simple. Maybe add some barbecue sauces or spices. I'd keep it simple for sure. Maybe some grilled fingers for appetizers and for desert we could make a pudding out of intestines or something like that. How yummy.

There is was, finally. Our island. Our very own island. It looked beautiful above the waves of fog, but there was still one question to be answered: why had they sold it to us for only $5? We kept that in mind as we ventured inward. Suddenly, out jumped a giant, growling dog. He  devoured us. The last thought I had before my death was, "yeah that's probably why it only cost $5." The end.

What if humans were arthropods, meaning they had skeletons on the outside? What would change about our lives and the world around us? Consider: sports, fashion, surgery, the way we treat each other, etc.

Fashion would definitely be different. Surgery would be easier, and would likely have more risks. Humans would be much more brittle, since we wouldn't have cushioning protecting our important parts. Coming from someone in this society, I think we'd look gross, but if that was the way we normally were, I'm sure no one would think that. I think the biggest changes would be with the physical activity level we were able to safely maintain. Sports like football and hockey would likely be obsolete or would be responsible for many deaths every year.

Dear stranger,

I know what you're going through is hard. Writing starters are like a small fly, buzzing around your day. They get in the way and refuse to stop until you think you may just go crazy. But it's okay. I've been where you are. I have got through these pesky beasts, and I'm here to tell you that you will get through them eventually. They may be annoying, but they will end with the semester. It's just a giant waiting game. You will survive, and you will prosper.

Love, Alex

What are your four bars this Friday?
When I walked into school this morning, I let out a moan
I really, really really really wanna go home
I'm tired of waking up at 6:00 AM
And I really, really, really really don't wanna wake up that early again.

Final project proposal

Name: Alex Maser

Creative Writing Final project proposal
1. What kind of writing do you think youʼll do for your final project? (Circle one.)
Continuation of a previous story (which one):  Continuation of the one act play, except I am going to tell it from the perspective of the villan

Why do you think this will be a good project to work on? In other words, why did you choose this option? (3-5 sentences) I enjoyed this project. I liked where I went with it but wasn't sure where I wanted to go at the time. I want to continue onto the end of the story, and maybe add a few things in the middle. I am going to tell it from the opposite perspective

Give a brief summary/outline/explanation of the story, poems or play you will write. If you are going to do a series of poems, just choose one to write about here:
Main character:
Shane Anderson

Setting: High school party, A court room
Flaw of main character: Shane date rapes a girl and has to go through the legal system
Quest or journey of the main character: He wants to not go to jail for the rape, but also has to deal with other personal issues which may show some growth
Lesson to be learned from the story: rape is bad
Brief plot summary: There is a rape at a high school party. Then the play takes you to a court house for the trial of the rapist. This play will be told from the perspective of the rapist, and will focus on a more pro-Shane viewpoint and a less pro-Annabelle viewpoint. To illustrate how there are always two sides to a story.

All human life dies and the aliens take over the world. The earth becomes the aliens habitat and the aliens decide they like to look like babies so the entire world is populated by babies which is cool except babies cant reach the top shelf so that becomes the biggest problems the aliens have to face ok bye India in 18.5 hours have a happy holiday season see you after break.

In order to keep the population under control, the government gives away a drug called “Bliss.” As the name implies, the drug keeps everyone perfectly happy and content, virtually eliminating political unrest. It also lowers peoples’ lifespans, insuring that the planet never gets too crowded. When some people are reluctant to take the pills, the government simply dumps the drug into the water supply. A small group of rebels must search for uncontaminated water, so they can be clear-headed enough to challenge the government.
This it so much like Brave New World ugh. Okay but the rebels search for water, they have to fight off the elements, animals and avoid the governments watchful eye. Eventually they get the water they need and they figure out how to make that water the water everyone drinks and they overthrow the government yay the end

Crime is finally eliminated through the simple procedure of broadcasting everyone’s lives on national television, 24 hours a day.

This sounds kind of like 1984. People would try to find a way to keep their lives private, and people would become paranoid and extremely unhappy. This system couldn't last very long at least in a society like the one we have today.

SciFi Story

“Go, quickly. We must have like, the element of surprise on our side,” Princess Bratz ordered. With one sentence she unleashed the army of an entire civilization: Bratz World.
“The order has been sent. The Barbies won’t know what hit them,” Officer Bratzfield replied.
“Good, good,” said Princess Bratz, “Finally, Bratz World will have enough toys for like, every Bratz child. No one will be turned away. No child will be told, like I was, that there weren’t enough toys for them to have another. No more sacrifice.”

------

Row by row, the army of Bratz marched closer and closer, each face identical, smiling, and made up. Inside Barbie Security Headquarters, sirens began blaring.
“Intruder alert. Intruder alert. Intruder alert. Unidentified movement.”
Lights flashed. The head military commander looked through his binoculars, towards the advancing army. “There’s at least twenty thousand of them, and there could be more. What do we do?”
His second in command responded gravely: “it’s clear we have only one choice. I must send the distress call.” With that he pushed a small red button, initiating a well-rehearsed country-wide call to arms.

------

Ashley Jameson was painting her nails when the sirens erupted. “Oh crapnoodle,” she thought, “how am I supposed to go fight a war when my nails are wet?” She blew on them, pondering. “I guess I’ll just wait for them to dry. It’s probably like, just another drill, anyways.” She blew on them again.
About seven minutes later, when her nails were fully dry, she went into the half-bath on the second floor. She lifted up the matt laying in front of the sink, and knocked two and a half times. A door opened inward, revealing a pool of darkness and a barely visible slide. “We’ll, here we go,” she thought, as she slid down towards the darkness.
Seconds later she emerged in the military base. Other Barbies were running around frantically.
“Where is my cute soldier outfit??”
“I need to fix my hair!”
“Wait, do these camo pants make me look fat?”
Ashley was overwhelmed. Usually when she arrived at the base the military generals calmly took attendance, and then they all went back home. “What’s going on?” she asked a brunette, who was running by frantically.
“The Bratz army is attacking! We must fight back!”
“Oh crapnoodle,” said Ashley.

------

Princess Bratz watched her army’s progress through a pink-rimmed fifty inch television screen. She sat on a purple plush armchair, her small poodle at her feet. Her poodle was playing with a yellow plush bunny toy. “Yes, Spookies, play with your bunny. Soon you will be able to have like, twenty bunnies, as soon as we take over the Barbies.”
“Ruff,” barked Spookies.
“Yes, yes, I know you’re excited. Come, look. Our army is like, almost there.” She picked up Spookies and showed him the TV. “Soon, my puppy, soon.”

------

Ashley grabbed her weapon and took her place in row 26, 13 from the right. She solemnly turned to the Barbie next to her, a blonde named Ken, and said, “I don’t even know how to fight. What are we supposed to do? We do all these drills to get here, but no one ever told us like, what to do once we got here!”
Ken said, “we fight, I guess. Try not to die, and try to stop the Bratz.”
Ashley said, “what if we don’t?”
Ken said, “we die. I guess.” Ken wasn’t very smart.
“Move out!!” The order came from the front of the line. Ashley and Ken waited until the row in front of them started moving, and followed. They walked and walked and walked, and eventually murmurs of the Bratz and I see them! floated back from the front ranks.
“Oh crapnoodle,” said Ashley.

------
Princess Bratz had just gotten out of her shower, when she heard a loud commotion in her TV room. She rushed over, only to see her army rushing towards the Barbie army, and the Barbies fighting back. Plastic, ever-smiling faces proceed to engage in mass murder. “Goooo team!” cheered Princess Bratz. Her lifelong dream of unlimited toys would finally become a reality as soon as her army won.
She turned to the picture of her parents kept on her coffee table, picked it up and whispered, “now who’s not important enough?”

I decide to keep the magic wand secret forever. I would use it to make myself invisible and see what other people say when I am not around. I would also use it to stop time so that I could sleep for a while.  Basically I would use it to make my life easier, like use it to summon a pile of bunnies or puppies I could cuddle, or use it to make a chocolate cake or whatever.

SciFi Brainstorm

Things to think about when writing fantasy/sci-fi/folktales
1. Build your world. Chances are you're in another world or a slight variation on modern-day Earth.
What is the difference between your world and ours? Think about the class system, the way gender is treated and the religions throughout the world. Give two similarities and two differences between your charactersʼ world and the world you live in.

All my characters are barbies. They live in a barbie doll house type world, so everything is on a smaller scale. They generally look like humans, except they are all almost uniform looking. The world is controlled by the All-Powerful Barbie Queen. There is a rival world, filled with Bratz, attempting to take control of the land owned by the Barbies. Societies are generally similar to those of modern day Earth. There is no money or bartering system, everyone shares everything (so in a way its rather communist except there are so many things that no one is lacking in Barbie world). Bratz world is in need of resources, and this is the source of the worlds' conflicts.

2. Don't make your characters all powerful. Give your characters weaknesses. Make them bad at something; make them underestimate people on a regular basis. Make them something other than immortal and all powerful, and your story will be more interesting.

Name one of your main characters and describe him/her/it.
Ashley: She has blonde hair, looks like a barbie, and is very preppy. She is a cheerleader. She is rich and successful but very helpless and has never had to learn any skill except cheering, cooking, and looking pretty. She is intelligent, but has not had to utilize her mind.

List two potential flaws in a main character you have in mind.
She is unexperienced at almost everything. She has an uncontrollable weakness when it comes to puppies.

3. Give your villains minds of their own. Give your villain a past, a future, friends, family, loved ones. etc. Give them a reason to be “evil”. Give them motivation, proper motivation that isn't 'just because'.
Name a possible villain in your story and describe him/her/it. In a few sentences, describe what made your villain evil.

Princess Bratz is a Bratz doll. She has brown hair, and is cunning. She inherited Bratz world from her family tree, and is in charge. As a child she never felt loved enough, and always wanted more toys than her parents would buy for her; this leads her to want to take all she can from Barbie world.

4. Use unusual creatures. One possibility is to use creatures which are from actual mythology or that youʼve seen in films or read about in books but with a twist. The other possibility is to use creatures you make up.
Name a possible creature you could use and tell me what type of creature this is.
Is this creature good or evil and why?

Barbies and Bratz. Some are good and some are evil. Just think about how creepy it would be to be attacked by an army of constantly smiling, uniformly made, small plastic people.

She was having a great day at the mall until the jerk in front of her stopped suddenly. She was about to yell at him, when she noticed everyone was stopped. A flash of motion on the lower floor caught her attention. They stepped sideways out of the air, short gray people in gray clothes. She watched them lift a few young teens and some random children and carry them sideways into emptiness. Everyone began moving again, calmly. The parents of the children, the friends of the teens, acted as if the missing people had never existed. Suddenly she remembered she had always had a younger brother, until one day she never had one. She suddenly had a vivid flashback to her younger brother; he told her about this system which removed people, erasing them from the collective memory. These people were taken to be prisoners and participants in psychological experiments. She decided that something had to be done about this sick practice. She went about attempting to educate the masses. She incited an uprising which overthrew those in charge of this system. The End.
